Synonyms: Biotin, Vitamin B7 , Vitamin H  , Coenzyme R

biotin-p

Biotin is a B-complex vitamin which is important in the catalysis of essential metabolic reactions to synthesize fatty acids, in gluconeogenesis, and to metabolize leucine.
Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin produced in the body by certain types of intestinal bacteria and obtained from food. Considered part of the B complex group of vitamins, biotin is necessary for the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and amino acids (the building blocks of protein). D-Biotin is colourless crystals or a white, crystalline powder. Slightly soluble in water and  ethanol, insoluble in organic solvents. It dissolves in dilute solutions of alkali metal hydroxides.

Applications
D-Biotin is used in cell growth, the production of fatty acids, metabolism of fats, and amino acids.
It plays a role in the Krebs Cycle, which is the process in which energy is released from food.
Biotin not only assists in various metabolic chemical conversions, but also helps with the transfer of carbon dioxide.
Biotin is also helpful in maintaining a steady blood sugar level.
Biotin is often recommended for strengthening hair and nails.
Consequently, it is found in many cosmetic and health products for the hair and skin.

Storage terms
D-Biotin is fairly stable to air, heat and light.
It may be stored for 36 months from manufacturing date in unopened original container
on a dry place, protected from solvents and light, at a temperature below 25 °C.
D-Biotin must be handled in accordance with the Safety Data Sheet.
