Sodium acetate, (also rarely, sodium ethanoate) is the sodium salt of acetic acid.
It is an inexpensive chemical produced in industrial quantities for a wide range of uses.
As the conjugate base of acetic acid, it is a relatively strong base.

Applications  
Textile industry: to neutralize sulphuric acid and as a resist to aniline dyes.
Leather industry: as a pickling agent in chroe tanning.
Chemical industry: in the manufacture of diazo compounds.
Paper industry: as a buffering agent.
Rubber industry: to retard vulcanization of chloroprene (see neoprene).

Storage Terms
Sodium acetate crystals are hygroscopic.  It should be stored and handled in its original packages or
in suitable sealed containers and kept in a clean dry place.s a medium in chemical heat reservoirs.
