Calcium Chloride Dihydrate
KASEL Chemicals
Synonyms: Calcium chloride, CAL plus, replenisher (calcium).
It is a salt that is solid at room temperature, and it behaves as a typical ionic halide. It has several common applications such as brine for refrigeration plants, ice and dust control on roads, and in cement. It can be produced directly from limestone, but large amounts are also produced as a by-product of the Solvay process.Because of its hygroscopic nature, it must be kept in tightly-sealed containers. |
General information

Chemical Formula: CaCl2 . 2H2O |
Density: 1,85 g/cm³ Melting point: ~176 °C Solubility in water (0 °C): 1000 g / l |
Applications:
Calcium Chloride Dihydrate is used as refrigeration-proofing agent, refrigerant, fire-proof agent, viscose agent and preventive agent, and for the manufacture of metal calcium etc.
Handling and Storage
Keep in a tightly closed container, stored in a cool, dry, ventilated area. Protect against physical damage. Moist calcium chloride and concentrated solutions can corrode steel. When exposed to the atmosphere, calcium chloride will absorb water and form a solution.
