Calcium Chlorid Dihydrate sample

Calcium chloride is an inorganic salt, which exists as a liquid or a solid. Solid calcium chloride is a white, crystal substance in the form of flake, pellet or powder. With different crystallized water contents, it can be dihydrate or anhydrous. Calcium Chloride is an ionic compound of calcium and chlorine. It is highly soluble in water and it is deliquescent.

It is a salt that is solid at room temperature, and it behaves as a typical ionic halide. It has several common applications such as brine for refrigeration plants, ice and dust control on roads, and in cement. It can be produced directly from limestone, but large amounts are also produced as a by-product of the Solvay process.Because of its hygroscopic nature, it must be kept in tightly-sealed containers.

Calcium Chloride Dihydrate is used as refrigeration-proofing agent, refrigerant, fire-proof agent, viscose agent and preventive agent, and for the manufacture of metal calcium etc.

Handling and Storage
Keep in a tightly closed container, stored in a cool, dry, ventilated area. Protect against physical damage. Moist calcium chloride and concentrated solutions can corrode steel. When exposed to the atmosphere, calcium chloride will absorb water and form a solution.
